Fish Quay - North Shields
New Line Graffiti

New Line has just completed a 150 ft mural at North Shields Fish Quay. This historical port is still to this day the hub of the North East’s fishing industry. The mural was commissioned by Find Your Talent involved a group of five students from North Shields YMCA.

The gaint piece of art to illustrate the heritage of North Shields Fish Quay has brightened up life for locals in the port.
Shop owners in the area contributed to the ideas behind the theme of the artwork, which was painted along the boards of a derelict piece of land.
The New Line team, along with the YMCA students, painted imagery such as boats, fishing nets, and other scenes inspired by the area’s rich history.

New Line had a great time working on this exhibition for Find Your Talent @ The Customs House. We worked with around 150 young people from ages 5-19 from all over the region.

The idea behind the exhibition was to show that there is more to a person than what is shown on the surface, just as there is more to graffiti than just a word. To illustrate this point we worked with the young people to design their names, and to come up with a couple of words that described their personality. All of the thoughts and feelings went up onto the final wall whilst all of the name boards were shown throughout the rest of the gallery. The visual impact was quite striking. Thanks to all the young people who got involved.

One of the best bits of the exhibition was working along side Jonathan Smee aka Mash One on the finished wall. As a professional graphic designer working for M&C Saatchi Jonathan was able to help us work on the Calligraphy side of the exhibition, as we wanted to use as many different styles of writing as we could to help illustrate the point of diversity. We have just completed this wall with the young people from Tyne Met College for their six form common room.

The young people came up with the concept and some of the graphics students came up with some great designs to help bring this wall together. All in all these was a really fun project to work on with some great young people.

New Line has just finished the final part of our work with the new Tyne Tunnel.

We were asked to paint a large-scale painting on the roof of the tunnel, no small task I can tell you. Unfortunately December isn’t really the best time of the year to paint on the floor, so regrettably we were only able the basic lettering done on the roof. After nearly 2 weeks of record breaking bad weather we spent nearly a full week just brushing of rain of the surface which was great.

New Line has just completed the largest piece of graffiti art in the Northeast of England. Spanning a massive 100 Meters, this huge mural is situated on the building site of the new Tyne Tunnel.

New Line was commissioned by the Customs House to create the artwork and manage the recruitment of professional artists to collaborate with local young people. The artists chosen to work with New Line were Heavy Artillery, a crew from Brighton.
Initial ideas came from a group of local young people working creatively during out of school workshops. The young people created their own paintings, which were used by the professional artists to base the final artwork.

The main ideas the young people came up with were based on the history of Jarrow, in the form of a time line. They sectioned their ideas into images depicting St Bede, coal mining, William Jobbling, ship building and the Jarrow Crusades.

The mural has been massive success in the area for both locals and visitors who have been travelling to see it. There has also been some great press coverage

New Line Graffiti has just completed a project with West Jesmond Primary School. We had a great 5 days working with some of the nicest and enthusiastic children you could meet. They worked really well over the 5 days and we covered years 3-6. The kids created some really great work and they all learnt a lot and more importantly had a great time whilst doing it.

The wall above was created with help from year 6. The other years were all given the theme of "Jungle" and they created words, animals and plants based on the theme. They ended up creating a really expressive and energetic piece of work which can be seen below.

NLGP Are pleased to announce our first show of the year. Its been quiet this year so far, we have been working on the website and a few other bits an pieces that are in the pipe line.

Seeing as some of our shows get a bit of bad press we are going to keep the artists who will be dropping some work under wraps for now. But rest assured there will be paint on most surfaces and canvas for sale.

The show is at the End Bar in Newcastle and is being hosted by the Ghetto Method check out their face book
